With a legislative act published on August 11th, 2020, it is possible to suspend employment contracts for the months of August and September, in the companies of tourism, food transport, culture and sports, based on the activity codes (KAD).
Eligible businesses can suspend part or even 100% of their employees, who have been hired until the publication of the legislative act, either they were suspended in the previous months or not. Employers are also given the opportunity to suspend employees who have been permanently recalled in the past.
The suspension can last up to 30 days per month. Employees who will be suspended throughout August or throughout September will receive €534 per month.
Attention: the non-dismissal clause applies, as employers are obliged not to make reductions in their staff with dismissals for as long as they use the suspension measure and in any case until September 30th and for a period of 30 days they must maintain the same number of employment seats and with the same type of employment contract.
The “Syn-Ergasia” mechanism is now open for seasonal workers as well and the scope of the program is expanded in order to include more employees in it.
